If you have purchased a motorcycle in Indiana, the next step is to apply for motorcycle registration. The process of registering a motorcycle is the same as that of registering a car. However, you will not be required to take your motorcycle for emission tests.

Indiana Residents and New Residents

If you are a new resident in Indiana, you must obtain motorcycle registration within 60 days of establishing Indiana residency. You will face some penalties if you fail to register your motorcycle within this period.

You will need to provide your current Indiana or out-of-state certificate of title to receive an Indiana license plate.

Then, you will need to go in person to any local license branch to register your motorcycle. Make sure you bring the following items with you:

  • Your current Indiana or out-of-state title, or the Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin.
  • Odometer statement.
  • Proof of Indiana motorcycle liability insurance.
  • Proof of Social Security number.
