About Geo

When we think about GEO, the thing that comes to mind is mini cars and SUVs. GEO launched its very own car that was designed keeping in mind the youngsters. The car model was manufactured to cut down the fuel cost.

The GEO car models were manufactured under GM which was also a subdivision of Chevrolet. Three other automakers from Japan were also a part of this venture. The Prizm model was introduced, and the Tracker and the Metro model introduced as a joint venture. The other car models, Spectrum and Storm were produced under Isuzu (a company in Japan).

Metro was the first car that was launched by GEO inspired by Suzuki Swift design. It was an economy car produced with the vision of reaching out to the general masses. The most insignificant thing about the Metro was that it was available in three different options. Metro has been one of the most fuel-efficient cars produced by GM which stayed in the market for thirteen years.

The GEO ‘Prizm’ car model was able to bag several awards. It was a sedan mini-sized car designed for young car lovers. However, since the Prizm became part of the Chevrolet line in 1997, it was not received well by the audience. The reason being that was poor advertising and heavy competition in the industry by Chevrolet Cavalier. Though Prizm offered better quality, Chevrolet Cavalier was marketed to be better, and as a result, Prizm had a dwindling interest of the buyers.

Later GM and Isuzu's collaboration led to the production of The’ Spectrum’, inspired by Isuzu Gemini. It was the first car model that was run by Chevrolet but was later put under GEO.

The Storm was another car model that came into GEO’s line-up in 1990. It had a sturdy look and the design was inspired by Isuzu Impulse.

The ‘Tracker’ was one of the sturdiest models run by the GEO. It was launched in 1989. The tracker was a light SUV that was inspired by Suzuki Vitara. It was a part of the original model of 1989 and was closed in 2004.

In the fast technology-driven automobile industry car models come and go, however, GEO will always be known for designing compact economy cars and SUVs at a cheaper price.
