About BETA

Beta is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer that was founded in 1904. Although it was first named after its founder “Società Giuseppe Bianchi,” the brand is now known as Beta. The name Beta is the combination of the initials of Arrigo Tosi and Enzo Bianchi in the 1950s and 1960s. The company was formerly located in the town of Via Bellerivia before it was later moved to Florence. Producing over 20,000 motorcycles a year, Beta focused on two-stroke bikes in the 1960s. The focus was after that changed to the development and production of off-road motorcycles in the 1970s.

With over 100 years of experience, Beta is still a leading manufacturer of motorcycles in the industry. Unfortunately, the brand experienced a terrible flood that raged through Florence in 1966. The incident caused several damages at Beta. Surprisingly, Beta was able to recover on time and immediately produced powerful engines with new experienced contractors.

The period 1980-89 was a turning point in the history of this company. Beta enjoyed a lot of changes in the production style. With the Japanese manufacturers dominating the Motocross, Beta switch to focus on trials. Beta produced a series of off-road motorcycles at this time. TR32 air-cooled, TR33, TR34 with 123cc-260cc, and TR35 air-cooled series were all built during this period.

By the 1990s, Lapo Bianchi had joined the firm. This development made Beta aim at increasing international recognition. As a result of the essential working relationships with Suzuki and KTM, Beta increased the number of models produced.

Beta has been used to win in many World Championship by riders such as Albert Cabestany, Dougie Lampkin, Jordi Tarrés, and Brad Freeman. Using KTM engines, Beta launched a wide variety of enduro motorcycles in 2005. With a new engine made in-house, in 2010, this brand launched the new RR series. The enduro bikes are available in 8 four-stroke and five two-stroke models. Models from Beta have their sizes ranging from 50 cc to 480 cc. Today, Beta has recorded a large number of sales of enduro bikes worldwide. Many manufacturers’ titles and awards have been won with this company’s significant commitment to the sport.
