Daelim Motor Company is also referred to as DMC. It is a division of the Daelim Group and is a motor scooter and ATV manufacturer. The mother company was founded in1962 and started producing the Japanese Honda bike. It was licensed for the South Korean market in Seoul. The company is based in Gyeongsangnam-do in South Korea and has production units in Changwon. Daelim Motors manufactures over 300,000 units annually since the company began production in 1963.

In 1976, the company established its own research facility in Hamamatsu, Japan and began producing its own designs in 1977.  Daelim Motor Company has grown to be the largest motorcycle manufacturer in South Korea as well as in the world. The company has grown due to extensive research as well as the production of innovative products. They are also known for creating great rapport with their customers, excellent quality control as well as testing to ensure that the product is of the best quality possible. This helps to create confidence in the product as the customer is assured of a durable and dependable product.

With their penchant for ensuring value in their product, Daelim motorcycles are more in demand and the company has grown to become a leading producer. In 1981, Daelim entered into a partnership with Honda to produce motorbikes. This partnership lasted over twenty years. The following year, KIA Industrial combined with Daelim Industrial and formed Daelim Motor. The first Daelim scooter championship was hosted by South Korea in 1989. In 2004, the company launched Freeway 250 scooter, which was a hit. In 2005, the company started to export Auto Transmissions to Nissan.

In 2007, Daelim Motor was the winner of the prestigious Hyundai and KIA Technology award during a ceremony held in Korea. The company started to export auto parts to Audi and Jaguar in 2008. In 2010, the modern water-cooled luxury scooter with many futuristic features was launched.

Daelim takes its responsibilities as a global brand very seriously participating in the support of motorcycle culture as well as racing and training safe motorcycle etiquette. It is deeply rooted in the Korea Scooter Race Championship (KSRC) which it started more than twenty years ago.
