About ECOSSE
ECOSSE Moto Inc. was founded in December 2001 by Donald Atchison. He developed the concept for the ideal street bike while on his business trips across the world when he was head of Business Development for a manufacturing company based in Colorado.
He later joined the CU Boulder for an MBA program and figured he could develop his concept as a school project. This birthed the idea of a unique motorcycle boutique with high-end motorcycle accessories.
However, he was dissatisfied with what he found in the market. The manufacturers and distributors simply failed to deliver what he had in mind. As a result, he went back to his concept which was in sketch form and ECOSSE Moto Inc was born. It took him some time to develop the concept into his dream product but three prototypes later, it was ready.
ECOSSE Moto Works produced The Heretic which encompassed all of Atchison’s favorite bike components from his number one bike picks as well as his preferred hard to obtain accessories. Today, the company is renowned for its marquee of high-end motorcycles. The models are created with the best artistry using the rarest and most exotic materials to create unique designs.
Interesting Facts
- The idea for the name of the company was derived from a 1950s private racing team that was called Ecurie Ecosse. The Scottish team worked hard to be included in the illustrious Le Mans race. They were allowed to compete in 1956 and surprised everyone by emerging the winners in their Type D Jaguars beating the Ferrari and Maserati teams. They repeated the feat the following year when they defended their world champions status. This small Scottish team represented a single-minded yearning for success and the company wanted to tap into that spirit.
- The Heretic’s name was derived from the term ‘heresy’ which epitomizes an uncompromising attitude that is in contrast with the accepted. The Heretic was created to challenge the norms with regard to motorcycle design and performance as well as to stand out from the usual offerings.
- The company’s Ecosse Titanium Series is one of the most expensive bikes in the world.
