About Tesla

Tesla is an electric automobiles manufacturer headquartered in California, United States. It was co-founded by South African entrepreneur Elon Musk, who joined the company during its Series A funding. Though the company was incorporated in 2003, it was not until recently that it gained prominence. Its sales would skyrocket following 2016 as its cars offered an innovative alternative to traditional gasoline-powered cars. Today, it ranks as the number one plug-in electric car manufacturer in the world and has expanded its manufacturing operations to China.

The unique aspect and selling point of Tesla cars is the absence of an engine. Instead, thousands of small lithium-ion batteries, which are situated on the floor of the vehicle, power the car. This makes the ride experience significantly quieter and smoother than traditional vehicles. Tesla’s electric-vehicles provides some further important advantages as well. The cars can run for 250 to 350 miles on a single charge. Teslas can be recharged with a recharger installed in your home or at one of Tesla’s recharge stations located in the city, and each recharge takes an average of 3.5 hours.

Tesla offers only a handful of models. The first model to be launched was the Model S sedan in 2012. It took some time for sales to takes off, but by 2018 it had sold 250,000 units. The US accounted for the majority of the sales while Norway followed second in the international market. In 2015 Tesla launched the Model X, a compact SUV that would find immense popularity in Norway. It also performed well in the US though it trailed behind the Model S in sales. In 2017 the marque launched another sedan and its latest model to date, the Model 3. Both the Model S and Model 3 are offered in Long Range versions which offer a higher mileage.
