About VOXAN
Voxan was founded by a French entrepreneur known as Jacques Gardette. He is known for ostensibly being inspired by the revival of the Triumph. He planned to establish a distinguished French motorcycle company and include a number of partners. The company was established in 1995 in Issoire, a town located in the south-central of France, near Clermont-Ferrand. Gardette set about to develop a machine with Alain Chevallier building the chassis and Sodemo Moteurs concentrated on the engine. Chevallier was quite well known as his frames had won multiple GPs in the 80s as well as the 90s.
The first machine, a limited production Roadster, was displayed in 1997 and the first model released in 1999. Production was delayed and this caused further delays with the production of the Café Racer; another of the company’s prototypes. Only fifty units of the Roadster were sold by the various dealerships the company delivered them to. The company had the financial support of the Dassault Group.
In June 2000, Voxan was purchased by Didier Cazeaux and Société de Développement et de Participation and production commenced on 1st April 2003. The company released the Street Scrambler in the same year and followed it up with the release of the Scrambler and Black Magic the following year. Voxan launched a third dealership in Luxembourg in Moteurs.
In the month of October 2007, Voxan had its first IPO on Euronext and two firms, Fortune Terres Luxembourg and Sodemo Moteurs hankering to buy it.
The 22nd of December, 2009 saw the company forced into liquidation. It is now a division of Venturi Automobiles which is based in Monaco. Once the new company acquired Voxan, production was halted henceforth and the engineering staff was transferred to Fontvieille, Monaco; the company headquarters.
In June 2010, Venturi announced a new green corporate plan for Voxan which involved the production of an electric motorcycle in 2003. This promised model was shown at the Paris show and the manufacturer claimed it was capable of hitting 100mph. However, nothing became of it.
Gardette quit the motorcycle business and ventured into medical drugs establishing Biocorp. He has been the chairman and CEO since 2015.
