About YAMAHA
Yamaha Motor Company Limited is a Japanese motorcycle maker that was founded in 1955. Besides producing motorcycles, this company also manufacture boats, outboard motors, and other motorbike products. Aside from having a long and exciting history, Yamaha is also one of the most popular motorcycle companies in the world. This group started as a Japanese multinational corporation known as the Yamaha Corporation. Torakusu Yamaha established it in Hamamatsu. Initially, this group only manufactures reed organs and pianos alongside other products. In 1955, Yamaha motor company limited separated from Yamaha to form a new entity and was headed by Genichi Kawakami. This company is located in Iwata, Shizuoka, Japan.
YA-1, with 125 cc, was the first model produced by this brand in 1955. Its design was copied from the German DKW RT 125. The bike won the third Mount Fuji competition. Products such as fishing boats, electrical generators, water pumps, personal watercraft, sailboats, golf carts, small snow throwers, multi-purpose engines, among others, are manufactured by Yamaha.
In 1956, this company started to compete internationally where it participated at the Catalina Grand Prix. Yamaha’s YA-1 placed six in the race. The following year, this brand introduced YA-2 with 125 cc. Unlike YA-1, this model has a developed suspension and frame. Later in the year, Yamaha introduced a two-stroke twin-cylinder bike named YD-1 with a 250 cc. Although the model similar features and design with YA-2. It is larger and more potent than the latter.
In 1963, Yamaha won its first trophy in international competitions at the Belgium GP in the 250 cc class. Likewise, the brand enjoyed an increase in sales of its motorcycles. It formed a foreign subsidiary in Thailand in 1964 and later in Netherland in 1968. The company introduced the first trail bike known as DT-1 Enduro in 1968. An international subsidiary company was formed in the USA IN 1977 named the Yamaha Motor Company. It produced a 1000 cc four-cylinder road motorcycle known as YZF “R1” model in 1998. This brand introduced the Star Motorcycles in 1995. Yamaha Motor Philippines and an international subsidiary of Yamaha was established in 2007 and India in 2008. Today, Yamaha produces one of the best motorcycle models all over the world.
